On one side of the river, the government wants to build a dam to provide hydro-electric power to the whole region, but a group of women from the village say no; that would kill the ecosystem and the livelihoods of thousands of people.
This documentary is about the battle for the Namada River. For two decades, these women have been fighting against the armed might of the State, big business and the construction industry. They are disciplined and singular in their determination. They will not waiver and are not afraid even though they have been beaten and imprisoned.
This is the story of the women of Namada Valley and their passion to protect their environment and the river they love
