Universal Yet Uniquely Chinese


Despite growing up in one of the greatest cultural and historical spaces in the world, many Chinese contemporary artists believe that their voice is the voice of a younger and new generation. Their expressions, while Chinese, are also universal, and are as contemporary and raw as any found outside China. Truly great artistic language can cross cultural barriers and these four artists - Mao Xuhui, Pang Yongjie, Wang Xingwei and Pan Dehai - are more than ready to venture beyond.
