The Voices of Kalkeri

The Voices of Kalkeri relates the steps taken by international co-operators Agathe Meurise-Fortier, Mathieu Fortier and Blaise Fortier (the latter, two brothers from Quebec) to start a residential school of music and general education for underprivileged children in southern India.

Their organization, The Young Musicians of the World is a citizen's alternative group based on the commitment and respect of the community's traditions. Through their school, they provide free food, accomodation, clothing, musical and academic instruction to 50 students, including girls, who because of their poverty would never have gone to school.

Through the telling of their everyday preoccupations and of the issues at stake, the film aims to bear witness to the efforts of a collective that has mobilized to transmit knowledge and preserve the traditions of these children.
