913 | 913

Description

Sixty years after the raid at Dieppe, the photographer Bertrand Carrière brings 913 portraits of men to this beach in Upper Normandy in order to create an ephemeral photographic installation, condemned to be destroyed by the wind and the rising tide.

913 brings together hundreds of silent men’s faces who have lent their image to those who have disappeared there, at Dieppe, in August 1942. This film gives full meaning to the symbolic gesture for memory and peace found in this work.
